Do you offer your new email subscribers a discount on their first purchase?
It is a great incentive to get new sign ups and convert them to new customers on your website.
1. To set this up on Shopify, first create a discount code as you normally would. Make sure it is only usable for email subscribers, one use per customer.
2. When selecting specific customer segments, you can search for and choose email subscribers.
3. Next, in your Shopify admin go to Marketing > Automations. Click ‘create automation’ then ‘welcome new subscriber’. Use the provided template.
4. Click on the little envelope by the exclamation point and edit the email content to your liking. Make sure to select the discount code you set up (and save as you work).
5. Send a test email and make sure it looks good in your inbox before turning on the workflow.
Now new email subscribers on your Shopify store will get this email automatically after they sign up.
It is a good idea to pair this with a simple pop up to announce the discount. Lots of Shopify themes include a pop up feature in the customiser.
